As the Unix administrator in the IT department I am responsible with building and maintaining various FreeBSD based infrastructure.  This includes mail, database, and web servers that our corporate and customer applications run on.  Responsibilities also include backup and recovery, monitoring, network load balancing our external services, and supporting a small finance department in a windows environment.

§         Migrated a Solaris MySQL server over to FreeBSD and standardized deployment and configuration of server configurations

§         Designed and implemented various FreeBSD based servers for Sendmail, Postfix, and Apache.

§         Implemented network monitoring solution based off of Nagios for all Production and QA related systems and services.

§         Documented existing service and machine configuration, corporate policy, and troubleshooting details by utilizing a wiki.

As a member of the FusionOne Data Center Operations Team it was my responsibility to ensure availability and reliability of production and development environments.  It was in this roll that I was able to make the following contributions:

§         By utilizing Solaris Jumpstart technologies and customization, provided an automated deployment process for rapidly deploying Production class application servers (Solaris, Tomcat, Apache, and Java).

§         Designed and implemented HA Oracle servers utilizing various Veritas technologies including: Veritas Volume Manager, Veritas File System, Veritas Cluster, and QuickIO.

§         Installed statistical collection agents on Production machines providing trending information for DCOps and Engineering

§         Created security policy for production and development environments as well as an implementation guide for managers

§         Created DNS architecture utilizing Bind 9 and CVS for all networked environments

As a network administrator I worked closely with engineering and management to ensure availability and reliability of demo and production systems.  Duties included working closely with cross functional team members, system and application upgrades, system maintenance and monitoring, and troubleshooting problems.

§         Rapidly deployed hardened demo and production machines running Solaris, Apache, and Oracle. (ufsdump/ufsrestore + jumpstart)

§         Maintained Production, Qa, and Demo environments running Solaris.

§         Created multiple VPN configurations using CheckPoint Firewall running on hardened Solaris implementations, testing for interoperability with other VPN solutions.
